Unlike other Confluence customization products, Zen Foundation permits unlimited design flexibility and leaves a very lightweight "production footprint" for negligible performance impact.

In addition, Zen Foundation allows the presentation of widely varying and customized looks plus functionality to provide an appropriate experience for different site areas and user types (for instance, anonymous, view-only, and editors, and administrative users can each have different controls or displays presented). It is the platform on which we build most Confluence functional enhancements.
